This gallery is owned by American Society member Lourdina Rabieh.
She has a fascinating professional background in working with both art and antiques. The main floor of the gallery has a great space for showing art and the second floor an antique gallery.
This is an excellent opportunity to see a selection of contemporary Brazilian art from the renowned collection of Kim Esteve. Represented are artists from the 80's and 90's. Among my favorites is the most recent painting of Wesley Duke Lee!

BRUNCH AT THE GALERIA JACQUES ARDIES

This past Sat. I went to the open house brunch at the Galeria Jacques Ardies.
It was an absolutely miserable rainy day! I almost stayed home, and so glad I did not!
Walking into the brightly lite gallery with the delightful smell of fresh baked Pao de Queijo, and being welcomed by the owner with a wonderful smile, made my visit all worthwhile!
The exhibit of the naif artists is terrific! Colorful and very Brazilian! Among my favorites, the Baianas by Ivan Morais and the colorful flora and fauna of Grauben and the scenes of Jose Frietas. The paintings are for sale and very well priced! The exhibit is on until November 7th.

2009 SELECTED GUEST ARTIST FLORIAN RAISS

whether drawing, painting or sculpting,

It is my aim to develop a personal imagery based on observation and on my imagination. what really interests me is the working process. to identify the recurrent themes in my work, that

will develop and change with time. trying to know myself is an aspiration, each piece of work a part of the mosaic which might become a mirror.

Florian Raiss

Florian Raiss, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955,In the 70's he studied design at the Academia de Belas Artes of Rome and Florence as well as the Universidade de Mexico. He has always used drawing as his principal form of expression and a foundation for his expressive works in sculpture.
